WPB DUNCAN
- High yielding, moderately early maturing variety with a very attractive agronomic profile that seems well adapated to Irish growing conditions
- Produces very good quality grain potentially suitable for milling with high KPH and high HFN – also holds very good resistance to sprouting
- Strong disease resistance profile, particularly good on Yellow Rust (8) and Mildew (7). Easy to keep clean / manage in difficult spray seasons
- Short and stiff strawed with relatively good resistance to lodging, but will require PGR if sown very early on very fertile sites
- Exhibits good early vigour and tillering capacity, this makes Duncan an excellent variety choice for min- till or direct drill systems
- Can be grown for wholecrop silage on livestock farms, also suitable for organic wheat production
KWS FIXUM
KWS TALISKER
KWS Westfield x Pepito. New variety on the 2020 recommended list. Highest yield potential (104) which is an improvement of 4% over Chilham, and approx 7% over Doubleshot. Taller but with better
lodging resistance (6) than Chilham or Doubleshot. Very good resistance to yellow rust (8) and mildew (7), moderate resistance to septoria (6). Late maturing. Good specific weight (78.4 KPH) with good hagberg falling number (280) and good resistance to sprouting (7).
HEXHAM
KWS DAWSUM | NEW for 2022
- Very high yielding hard feed wheat with excellent consistency across all sites in Irish trials over 3 years
- Performs equally well as a first or second wheat, and on light or heavy land
- Flexible variety for sowing – can be drilled early or late (anytime from 20th Sept to 31st Jan)
- Relatively slow developing variety, up to 1 week later maturing than Graham (depending on sowing date)
- Short & stiff strawed with good resistance to lodging, no issues with neck break or grain shedding
- Very good resistance to Yellow Rust (8), Mildew (8) and Fusarium (7), moderately susceptible to Septoria (5.5),
- Excellent grain quality with very good sprouting resistance – similar levels to Costello
GRAHAM
Premio x Expert. Biggest selling variety last autumn taking 46% market share. Highest yielding variety on current Rec List (104) and has consistently delivered good yields in DAFM trials over last 3 years. Good lodging and overall disease resistance with a 7 score for septoria and 6 for fusarium. Slipping a bit on Yellow Rust. Weak on eyespot (4) so probably best suited as a first wheat. Medium maturity (6). Good sprouting resistance. KPH about 3 points lower than Costello.
