100% white clover available coated and uncoated in 5kgs packs

Top Tips for success

  • Management is key. Target a maximum of 15% of grazing area for stitching annually
  • Target April to July with good soil moisture
  • Swards need to be open with soil visible, graze well or mow before seeding
  • Target swards with some existing clover for best results
  • Sward planned for full reseed in medium term are better targeted for full reseed
  • Use Naked Clover for best value, more seeds/kg
  • Ensure optimum soil fertility and good seed:soil contact
  • Broadcasting is often cheapest but specialist drills often ensure better seed:soil contact
  • Keep pre grazing covers below 1100 kg/ha for the following two grazing (graze every 10-12 days)
  • Reduce N application as much as possible keeping in mind feed demand
  • Target additional P and K application
  • Keep covers low for the rest of the year

Horse Mixture

Grassland and Sprays
Usage guide: Horse Mixture Sowing rate: 14 kg/acre (35 kg/ha) Sowing Time: April-September (first week) Sowing depth: 10-15 mm Sowing instructions: Cultivate to achieve a fine, firm seedbed. Ploughing will help level rough fields. Sow in good conditions (warm with rain forecast), no deeper than 10-15 mm. Roll well after sowing to ensure good soil/ seed contact. Apply N, P & K as per soil test results and nitrates rules. After sowing: Monitor for pest attack and take immediate action where necessary. Post-emergence weed spray is advised approx. 5-6 weeks after establishment, prior to first grazing provided herbs are not sown in the mixture. If the mixture containing herbs is sown, weed control should take place before reseeding. If possible, use sheep or cattle to graze sward initially as this will help tiller out the sward and create a denser sward. Suitable for a hay crop if desired.

Leisure Lawn

Grassland and Sprays
Usage guide: Leisure Lawn Sowing rate: 25-30 g/m2 (100-120 kg/acre) Sowing time: April to late August Sowing depth: 10 mm Sowing instructions: Eliminate weeds well before preparing the seedbed, hand weed or use a suitable weed killer (seek advice from your local store). Create a good seedbed by digging the soil over to a depth of 15 cm and leave to settle, ideally for a few weeks. Remove weeds and excess stones. Rake over the whole area to create a flat, fine and friable seedbed. Firm the seedbed by rolling or treading the site evenly. Carry out two equal sowings at right angles to each other and diagonally to the main axis. Broadcast manually or use seed drill, rake level and roll. Ensure good seed to soil contact. Apply a suitable fertiliser to ensure adequate nutrients are available for the seed. After sowing:
  • Control weeds if necessary
  • Take the first cut when the grass is 6-8 cm and mow down to about 3 ½ cm (or the highest setting your mower will cut to) this will help the lawn to thicken out
  • Over the next few weeks gradually reduce the cutting height down to 2 ½ cm.
Uses:@ Sowing a new lawn; restoring a lawn

Maintenance

  • Do not apply any herbicides or fertilise
  • Control any noxious weeds by pulling out or using spot treatment
  • Cut down to 40-70 mm and remove clippings in late August/early September
  • Oversow at half rate each spring to maintain flowering intensity

Measures to enhance pollinators on your farm

  • Avoid ‘over-neatness’ to benefit bees and other wildlife
  • Allow native hedgerows such as whitethorn to flower each year
  • Avoid cutting hedgerows annually to allow flowering and fruiting
  • Leave at least one mature whitethorn/blackthorn tree within each hedgerow
  • Consider maintaining nesting habitats for bumblebees and solitary bees, keeping them free from pesticides
  • Wild bees need an uninterrupted source of wildflowers for food. Additional flowers are particularly important in summer after hedgerows have finished flowering

Farm Pollinator Mix ingredients

  • Red clover
  • White clover
  • Vetch
  • Phacelia
  • Chicory
  • Birdsfoot trefoil
