Diamond Multispecies Overseeding
A mixture of Clover and Forage Herb for overseeding into an existing grass sward
SOW AT 4KGS/ACRE. AVAILABLE IN A 10KG PACK (1 HA)
While successful overseeding isn’t always guaranteed, it does offer a number of benefits
- Lower establishment costs and full cultivation not required
- Faster turn around time when less lost forage production
- Greater options for weed control
- Red Clover and Chicory offer establishment benefits, while White Clover and Plantain can offer longer term productivity
Tips for Success:
- Soil test to ensure optimum soil fertility. Ph of 6.5 to 6.9 will benefit legumes
- Identify a field with a high % of Perennial Ryegrass, most likely recently reseeded. A full reseed would be more beneficial in older swards
- Check if sward is open and bare ground is available for new seedlings to establish
- Target warm moist soil conditions
- Graze tight to remove excess material and expose soil
- Use a drill to achieve excellent seed to soil contact
- Use watery slurry to also improve soil contact
- Reduce Nitrogen application to suppress Perennial Ryegrass competition, keeping in mind on farm feed demand
- Graze frequently after seeding, keeping pre grazing herbage mass below 1200 Kg DM/ha to prevent shading

Maintenance
- Do not apply any herbicides or fertilise
- Control any noxious weeds by pulling out or using spot treatment
- Cut down to 40-70 mm and remove clippings in late August/early September
- Oversow at half rate each spring to maintain flowering intensity
Measures to enhance pollinators on your farm
- Avoid ‘over-neatness’ to benefit bees and other wildlife
- Allow native hedgerows such as whitethorn to flower each year
- Avoid cutting hedgerows annually to allow flowering and fruiting
- Leave at least one mature whitethorn/blackthorn tree within each hedgerow
- Consider maintaining nesting habitats for bumblebees and solitary bees, keeping them free from pesticides
- Wild bees need an uninterrupted source of wildflowers for food. Additional flowers are particularly important in summer after hedgerows have finished flowering
